Special Entrance Examination for Privately-Funded Undergraduate International Students Living Overseas

Osaka University is implementing two types of special entrance examination, Type I and Type II, designed for privately-funded undergraduate international students residing outside Japan.

Features

  • 1) Applicants are able to take the entrance examination without visiting Japan.
  • 2) Successful applicants are able to participate in a 6-month preliminary and extensive Japanese language education program before the enrollment to the undergraduate schools. (Type I only)
  • 3) International students with outstanding academic performance may be eligible for financial support such as scholarships or tuition exemption after entering the University.
  • 4) International students will be eligible to live in Osaka University on-campus dormitories. (In principle, this will be limited to the first year.)

Type1 and Type2

Type I →
•Individuals who have completed or are expected to complete a standard 12-year education curriculum overseas and have Japanese-Languge Proficiency Test Grade N1, N2, or equivalent.
•Individuals who passed the examination will take part in the preliminary and extensive Japanese education program for six months before enrolling in Osaka University.
•Application Period: From October to December
•Interview Period: Mid-February
•Anncouncement of Selected Applicants: Late March
Type II →
•Individuals who have completed or are expected to complete a standard 12-year education curriculum in Korea and have Japanese-Languge Proficiency Test Grade N1 or equivalent.
•Individuals who passed the examination will not take part in the preliminary and extensive Japanese education program before enrolling in Osaka University.
•Application Period: August
•Interview Period: Mid- October
•Anncouncement of Selected Applicants: Mid-December
